About

Bishop Manogue Catholic High School is a four-year Catholic, co-educational high school in Reno, Nevada. It is the only Catholic high school in northern Nevada. It is a separately incorporated non-profit diocesan school operated under the authority of the Diocesan Bishop, Randolph R. Calvo. Bishop Calvo is the chief pastor and teacher of the Diocese. He serves on the Board of Directors.

Named after Reverend Bishop Patrick Manogue, who worked as a miner in Virginia City, Nevada prior to his ordinations as Priest and Bishop, the school was established in 1948. Since that time, Bishop Manogue has provided, and continues to provide, a Catholic education to the students of surrounding communities. The school is accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools and, in partnership with parents, is committed to fostering Christian values, academic excellence, and life-long service in a faith-centered community. The present enrollment is 655.

The first school was established at the site of the Flick Ranch in 1948. In less than ten years, that facility was outgrown, and a new building was erected in 1957 adjacent to the University of Nevada, Reno. In the forty-six years of its existence at this site, the school enrollment grew, but the facility was in a state of disrepair. The University purchased that property, and the high school built a new facility in Southwest Reno in 2004, able to accommodate 800 students.

The student population is composed of families residing in the greater Reno-Sparks area. This includes Truckee, California; the Tahoe area; and the Carson Valley area. Bishop Manogue has produced over 4,200 alumni throughout the course of its history. Over the past five years, 98% of all graduates have continued their education at the college level.

Today, the school employs 86 lay and religious teachers, administrators, and staff responsible for educating some 655 students. Bishop Manogue is designated "AAAA" for the Nevada Interscholastic Athletic Association sanctioned sports and activities.
