i completely f'up my application here, and they didnt get my senior grades and my good sat scores, i basically screwed up in every way possible and worst part was i really wanted to go here(visited, sat in classes, interviewed, knew all kinds of stuff about the place)Even if i had perfected my app, i wouldnt have gotten in w/ my gpa but i woulda at least gotten defferedd which woulda made me feel better.

I toured Duke during a debate trip and fell in love with "The Princeton of the South." Gorgeous campus. Every year, one of the top kids at our school goes here, so I should be in good shape in terms of acceptance. It all comes down to money...

Has the best balance of fun and school. Plus is such a solid IB recruit being #5 in the world behind HYP and Williams. Plus Goldman Sachs loves Duke. And its warm. And its got sports. Isn't enough I can say about Duke. Love it.

just tips to seniors:
1. dont waste time applying to big name schools that you don't even want to go to
2. BE ORGANIZED AND START EARLY!! it helps
3. know that there is NO WAY to predict college acceptances! i got into some schools that i shouldn't have according to rates and i didn't get into schools that i definitely should have got into according to rates.

problem here is getting in. im sure its not a pressure cooker type place like cornell. duke is in north carolina. is it too southern for my taste? i dont think so. it has the nicholas school where i can do both environmental and marine science. thats the real draw for me. other places i cant do that. well, rollins, but im not going there.i just dont know if i can get it. am igoing to waste my early shot if i cant get in? i dont know . and are the kids to preppy for me? i need to visit badly.

For those applying in the future- Did not do the "optional" essay, sent ACT only. No worries, wasn't top choice. BTW,until today after my rejection, I was a 63% chance. Now it says 12%. What's up with that? I could understand zero...
