Doing the right things

I go to Columbia and most students AREN'T anti-social and nerdy. Most of them are outgoing and social, so my advice to you is to be a "well-rounded" student and you will probably get in.

IF this is the school you really want to go to, then it's never too early to put yourself on that track (well, middle school may be too early but not fresh year of HS). My advice would be to evaluate how freshman year can help you for this school then meet those expectations, then do the same for soph Jr and Sr year. As your progress through HS, each year can help you more than the previous. You can use freshman year to just get a jump start ahead of everyone else using AP/Honors classes, getting used to a vigorous schedule earlier than most. Then, sophomore year you will be ahead of the game in terms of academic growth. Keep the pace up through Soph year as you take your first AP's. Do you see this snowball effect? Fresh & Soph year are all about shaping yourself. Jun and Sr. year are about flexing the muscle you grew as an underclassman and preparing for Columbia by intensifying your academic stamina even more.

Of course, an often overlooked aspect of academic stamina is maintaining a social life. Just like you don't see athletes constantly lift weights all day long w/o breaks, prospective scholars shouldn't study all day long w/o downtime. What sounds like more of an accomplishment: getting a GPA of 4.67 (out of 4) without getting to know people and getting into Columbia or getting a 4.34 (of 4), having friends, and still getting into Columbia?

You don't Understand

Thankyou and I know what you mean, but right now that is my only goal and Iwill do my best, and I enjoy alot of my time and I goof around. I just really have a passion for this school and it is what drives to work hard, I have always been a slacker until I saw this school.
