Target- Both my mom and dad went here. They know the professor in the Biology Dept. Went as an intern with Dr. Sitz. Hopefully I get a generous scholarship.
EDIT: Dr. Sitz is one of the professors at VT (biological sciences)

A reach—but at least I'm a physics major and not an engineer—the physics department head told me when I visited that they offered admission to 140/180 physics majors who applied last year. I really like VT and can see myself there if I get in. I also have a legacy there through both of my parents.

VT jumped their standards a little too far. One of my friends got on the waiting lists for MIT, and accept to CMU, but denied admission to VT.
